In Rachel's Words

Tell us a little about yourself.

Enjoy going to the gym and going out for dinner and drinks.

Enjoy travelling and going on holidays.

What do you enjoy most about helping patients/clients?

I enjoy seeing patients’ confidence grow and become happier as their pain improves and they get back to doing the things they love.

How would your patients/clients describe you?

Funny and caring

What is one piece of advice you wish everyone knew about pain or injuries?

Movement is usually part of the solution, not the problem. Staying active in the right way can help reduce pain, improve recovery, and build confidence.

What's your favourite success story?

One of my favourite success stories was a patient who came to see me with severe neck pain that was causing nerve pain down her arm. She'd previously seen other physiotherapists and had been told there was very little that could be done and that she would likely have to live with the pain. Understandably, she felt disheartened and had lost confidence that things could improve.

After carrying out a thorough assessment, we developed a personalised rehabilitation plan that focused on addressing the underlying cause of her symptoms, gradually improving her movement and strength, and rebuilding her confidence. Over time, her pain reduced significantly, the nerve symptoms settled, and she was able to return to her normal daily activities without the constant fear of pain. Seeing her realise that she wasn't "stuck" with her symptoms and watching her regain both her function and confidence was incredibly rewarding.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Going to the gym, going out for dinner and drinks and travelling/ going on holidays.

Favourite way to stay active?

Going to the gym

What's something people would be surprised to know about you?

I went solo travelling after uni to Australia and southeast Asia

What treatment techniques do you enjoy using?

I like using a hands-on approach in addition to exercise plans to maximise recovery. I also enjoy teaching Pilates and using it to complement physiotherapy.

What inspired you to become a Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist/Sports Rehabilitator?

Growing up, I was always involved in sport, and after experiencing a few injuries, I spent time with physiotherapists myself. Seeing how the right treatment and rehabilitation helped me recover and return to sport inspired me to become a physiotherapist. I now enjoy helping others overcome injuries, build confidence, and get back to doing what they love.

What types of conditions do you particularly enjoy treating?

Running and sports injuries, balance and falls, women's health conditions.

What does a typical appointment with you look like?

Every appointment starts with a conversation to understand your symptoms, goals, and how your injury is affecting your daily life. I'll then carry out a thorough assessment, explain my findings in clear, simple terms, and work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan. This may include hands-on treatment, tailored exercises, and practical advice to help you recover and prevent future problems.

What areas of physiotherapy are you currently studying?

I’m always learning on the job and from my peers every day. I am also doing a course at the moment on TMJ disorders.

Which courses or qualifications are you most proud of?

Physiotherapy degree

If someone was nervous about booking physiotherapy, what would you say to them?

I'd say there's no need to be nervous. Your first appointment is all about listening to your concerns, understanding your goals, and working together to create a plan that's right for you. My aim is to make you feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout your recovery.

What's the biggest myth about physiotherapy?

That rest is always the best treatment. While rest has its place, the right type and amount of movement is often one of the most effective ways to recover.

What do you hope every patient feels when they leave your treatment room?

I hope patients feel reassured and have a better understanding of their injury and the plan going forward.
