In Ben's Words

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm married with a young daughter and a new addition due at the end of 2026, so life outside work is usually busy and family centred. I enjoy watching football, playing golf and getting away on family holidays whenever we can, and spending time with friends. I also enjoy keeping active and am always looking for ways to improve both personally and professionally. When I get a chance to relax, there's nothing better than spending quality time with my family or enjoying meals out together.

What do you enjoy most about helping patients/clients?

Although I'm not the person providing the treatment, I take a huge amount of pride in making sure every patient has an exceptional experience from the moment they first contact us. Whether that's helping someone feel at ease when they're worried about an injury, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, or supporting our clinical team to deliver outstanding care, I love knowing we've made someone's day a little easier. Seeing patients leave happier, more confident and able to get back to doing what they love is incredibly rewarding.

How would your patients/clients describe you?

I hope they would describe me as approachable, friendly and genuinely caring. I always try to listen first, understand what someone needs and make sure they feel valued. Patients often contact us when they're frustrated, worried or in pain, so I think it's important that everyone feels welcomed, listened to and supported from the very beginning of their journey.

What is one piece of advice you wish everyone knew about pain or injuries?

Don't ignore pain and hope it will simply disappear. The earlier you understand what's causing a problem, the easier it often is to treat. Pain doesn't always mean serious damage, and many injuries respond well to the right advice, education and treatment. Asking for help early can save months of frustration.

What's your favourite success story?

One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing patients who arrive feeling worried or convinced they'll have to live with pain, then watching their confidence grow throughout their treatment. Whether it's someone returning to sport, getting back to work, or simply being able to play with their children again, those moments remind me why what we do is so important. It's not just about reducing pain, it's about helping people get their lives back.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Most of my spare time revolves around my family. I enjoy travelling, following football, playing golf and watching all sport really. I love meeting with friends and making memories with my family. I also enjoy learning about leadership and business development, as I'm always looking for ways to improve both myself and the clinic.

Favourite way to stay active?

I enjoy walking, keeping generally active in the gym and playing golf and following football. Chasing after my daughter also keeps me on my toes!

What's something people would be surprised to know about you?

People are often surprised that I originally worked in the health and fitness industry before moving into healthcare management. That background taught me the importance of customer service, teamwork and creating a great experience for every person who walks through the door which is something I still bring to my role every day.

What attracted you to Gav Noble Physiotherapy?

I've known Gav for decades. His brother, Chris, and I met at primary school in 1992 and have been best friends ever since. Chris is our lead therapist in the clinic too, so I've had the privilege of knowing the Noble family for most of my life.

When Gav took the exciting step of starting Gav Noble Physiotherapy in 2015, he reached out to me because he knew my background in management and customer service within a similar industry. He believed my experience could help build not just the clinic, but the business and the brand behind it.

What really attracted me was Gav's vision. From our very first conversations, it was clear that his focus wasn't simply on treating injuries—it was about providing exceptional care, educating patients and helping people get back to living the lives they want. That ambition really resonated with me, and I wanted to be part of building something special.

Looking back now, it's incredibly rewarding to see how far we've come. To have played a part in helping grow the clinic into the business it is today is something I'm very proud of, and it's exciting to continue being part of its future.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

No two days are ever the same, and that's what I love. I enjoy solving problems, supporting the team and continually looking for ways to improve the patient experience. Whether it's helping a patient who needs reassurance, supporting a member of staff or introducing new ideas that make the clinic even better, it's rewarding knowing that my role has a positive impact on both our patients and our team.

What does a typical day as Practice Manager look like?

Every day starts with making sure the clinic is ready to provide the best possible experience for our patients. I work closely with our reception and clinical teams to ensure appointments run smoothly, support staff whenever they need me and help resolve any challenges that arise throughout the day.

Behind the scenes I'm continually looking at ways to improve how we work, whether that's developing new services, improving our systems, analysing performance or finding ways to make every patient's journey even better. My goal is to create an environment where our team can focus on delivering outstanding care.

What do you think makes Gav Noble Physiotherapy different?

For me, it's the people and the culture.

Everyone here genuinely cares about achieving the best possible outcome for every patient. We take the time to listen, explain and understand what's important to everyone rather than simply treating an injury.

We combine expert clinical knowledge with a friendly, welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door. That personal approach is something we're incredibly proud of.

What do you hope every patient experiences when they visit the clinic?

I hope every patient feels welcomed, listened to and genuinely cared for.

Coming to physiotherapy can sometimes feel daunting, especially if someone has been living with pain for a long time or doesn't know what's wrong. My hope is that every patient leaves feeling reassured, confident that they're in the right place and optimistic about their recovery.

What do you enjoy most about helping patients?

I enjoy knowing that even small interactions can make a big difference.

Sometimes it's answering a question, helping someone feel less anxious before an appointment or simply making them feel welcome when they arrive. If someone leaves feeling more confident than when they came in, then we've done something worthwhile.

What's the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing the positive difference our team makes to people's lives.

Whether it's someone returning to the sport they love, getting back to work or simply being able to play with their children again, those success stories remind me why we're so passionate about what we do. It's incredibly rewarding knowing I've played a part in creating the environment that makes those outcomes possible.

What makes a great patient experience?

A great patient experience starts long before treatment begins.

It's about making someone feel welcome from the first phone call, listening carefully to their concerns, communicating clearly and making sure they always know what's happening next.

When patients feel valued, understood and confident in the plan we've created together, they're much more likely to have a positive experience throughout their recovery.

If someone was nervous about coming to physiotherapy, what would you say to them?

I'd say you're certainly not alone.

Many people feel nervous before their first appointment because they don't know what to expect. Our team takes the time to listen, understand your concerns and explain everything clearly before any treatment begins.

There's absolutely no pressure, and we'll always work with you at a pace you're comfortable with. Our goal is simply to help you understand your problem and give you a clear plan to move forward.

What advice would you give to someone booking their first appointment?

Don't wait longer than you need to.

Many people spend weeks or even months hoping pain will settle on its own, but getting expert advice early can often prevent a small problem becoming a bigger one.

Come with any questions you have, be open about your goals, and remember that we're here to help, not judge.

What are you most proud of since joining Gav Noble Physiotherapy?

I'm proud to have helped develop a clinic that continually raises its standards and always looks for ways to improve.

Whether that's improving the patient journey, supporting the growth of our team, introducing better systems or helping the clinic expand, it's been incredibly rewarding to contribute to building a service that patients can trust and staff are proud to be part of.

How do you help the team provide the best possible care?

My role is to make sure our team has everything they need to focus on what they do best looking after patients.

That means providing support, encouraging continuous improvement, removing obstacles where I can and making sure we all work together towards the same goal. When the team feels supported and empowered, our patients benefit too.

What's your favourite thing about working with the Gav Noble Physiotherapy team?

Without doubt the people.

We're all different, but we work well together and there's a lot of trust and respect within the team. We enjoy what we do, we're always willing to help each other out, and there's plenty of laughter along the way. I think having a happy team creates a better experience for our patients, and that's something I'm very proud to be part of.

Where do you hope to see Gav Noble Physiotherapy in the future?

I hope we continue to be recognised as one of the leading physiotherapy clinics in Northern Ireland, known not only for outstanding clinical results but also for delivering an exceptional patient experience.

As we grow, I want us to keep the same personal approach and values that have helped us build such a strong reputation, while continuing to innovate and provide even more ways to help people live healthier, more active lives.

What do you hope every patient says about Gav Noble Physiotherapy after their visit?

I hope they leave saying, "Everyone genuinely cared."

Of course we want patients to recover well, but just as importantly I want them to remember how they were treated. If every patient feels listened to, respected and confident that they received the very best care, then we've achieved exactly what we set out to do.
