Physiotherapy

At Gav Noble Physiotherapy, we help people move better, feel stronger and get back to doing the things they enjoy, whether that is walking, Pilates, golf, running, pickleball, gardening, playing with grandchildren, or simply getting through the day without pain taking over.
Physiotherapy is used to help restore movement and function when pain, injury, stiffness, surgery or long-term conditions affect the body. It commonly includes movement assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise rehabilitation, education and advice. This approach is supported by the NHS and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, which describe physiotherapy as helping people through exercise, movement, manual therapy, education and advice.
Our role is not just to treat the painful area. We look at how your body moves, why the problem may have developed, what may be keeping it going, and what needs to change so you can build confidence again.

A typical course of treatment includes a movement assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, a personalised exercise programme, and clear advice you can act on between sessions. NICE guidance on low back pain recommends manual therapy such as mobilisation or soft tissue techniques, but only as part of a wider package that includes exercise, rather than as a treatment on its own, which is the same principle we apply across every condition we see.
Conditions We Commonly Help
We regularly assess and treat:
- Back pain and sciatica
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Knee, hip, foot and ankle pain
- Sports and running injuries
- Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis
- Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
- Arthritis-related pain and stiffness
- Post-surgery rehabilitation
- Balance, mobility and strength problems
- Long-term stiffness affecting everyday activity
Specialist Treatments Available
Alongside Physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation, we also offer a range of specialist treatments where clinically appropriate:
Shockwave Therapy
For selected tendon and soft tissue problems.
Discover MoreStimpod Neuromodulation
For nerve-related symptoms and specialist rehabilitation.
Discover MoreAcupuncture
For pain relief and muscle tension.
Custom-Fit Orthotics

Discover MorePilates

Discover MoreMassage and Soft Tissue Therapy

At our clinic, we combine hands-on treatment with clear explanations and a practical plan. That matters because pain can be confusing. Many people worry they are “wearing out” or should stop moving, when often the right graded movement and strengthening plan can help them return to normal activity with much more confidence.
NICE guidance for low back pain supports exercise-based care and, in some cases, manual therapy such as mobilisation, manipulation or soft tissue techniques, but only as part of a wider treatment package that includes exercise.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Free Discovery Visit
Your free 20-minute Discovery Session is the perfect first step if you’re unsure whether Physiotherapy is right for you. We’ll listen to your story and outline a clear plan to help you get back to what you’re missing out on. This isn’t a treatment session; it’s a chance to get to know each other.
Full Assessment
If it is, we’ll arrange a full 45-minute assessment covering movement testing, a root-cause diagnosis, hands-on treatment where suitable, and a written rehabilitation plan to take home.
Afterwards
Mild soreness after treatment or new exercise is normal for a day or two; anything beyond that, we’ll want to know about.
Gavin Noble has worked in private healthcare for over 25 years, with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine, and Chartered and HCPC-registered status, the legal requirement to practise as a physiotherapist in the UK. Pain can be confusing: many people worry they are "wearing out" or should stop moving altogether, when the right graded plan can often help them return to normal activity with far more confidence than they expected.
Physiotherapy Questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with us.
Will I get exercises?
Yes. Most patients receive a tailored plan so progress continues between sessions.
Is hands-on treatment enough on its own?
It can help symptoms, but long-term improvement usually needs movement, strength and lifestyle advice too.
Which treatment do I need?
That depends on your assessment. We will recommend the most suitable option for your condition, goals and stage of recovery.
