Before booking a full assessment, we offer a free 20-minute Discovery Visit if you're unsure whether physiotherapy is right for you.During your Discovery Visit, we will:

- Outline a clear plan to help you move forward.
- Answer any questions you have, with no obligation.
This is not a treatment session, it's a chance for us to get to know you and for you to feel confident about your next steps.

What Should I Expect at My Assessment Appointment?
Your assessment appointment is a full 45-minute session designed to identify the root cause of your pain and shape your treatment.During your assessment, your physiotherapist will:
- Carry out a full movement and strength assessment.
- Discuss your medical history and current symptoms.
- Test your flexibility and range of movement in detail.
- Explain your diagnosis in clear, easy-to-understand language.
- Begin hands-on treatment where appropriate.
- Give you a written rehab plan to start your recovery.
Our aim is for you to leave your assessment knowing exactly what is causing your symptoms and how we'll treat them.

How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?
To help us carry out the best possible assessment, we recommend that you:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Bring shorts if you're attending for a hip, knee or ankle problem.
- Wear a vest or loose-fitting top for shoulder or neck problems.
- Bring a list of any medications you're currently taking.
- Bring any relevant X-rays, MRI scans or medical letters if you have them.
- Arrive approximately 5–10 minutes before your appointment.
You don't need a GP referral to see one of our Chartered Physiotherapists.

What Happens After My Assessment?
Following your assessment, your therapist will explain your diagnosis and discuss the most appropriate treatment plan for your individual needs.
Together, we'll agree realistic goals and develop a personalised rehabilitation programme designed to help you:

- Return to work, sport or everyday activities.
- Reduce the risk of your symptoms returning.
You'll also receive practical advice and exercises to continue at home between appointments.

How Many Physiotherapy Sessions Will I Need?
Every person is different. Some conditions improve within two or three appointments, while more persistent problems require a longer rehabilitation programme. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss the recommended treatment plan.
Do I Need an MRI Scan Before Seeing a Physiotherapist?
Usually not. Most musculoskeletal conditions can be accurately assessed through a detailed history and physical examination. If we believe further investigations are required, we'll explain why and advise you accordingly.
Can Physiotherapy Help Me Avoid Surgery?
In many cases, yes. Physiotherapy is recommended as the first line of treatment for many conditions including back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and osteoarthritis. If surgery is the best option, we'll also help prepare you beforehand and support your recovery afterwards.
