Stimpod Neuromodulation in Lisburn
Stimpod

Stimpod is a specialist, non-invasive treatment used to help manage certain nerve-related pain conditions and support rehabilitation. It uses pulsed radiofrequency stimulation applied through the skin, with the aim of influencing how irritated or sensitive nerves behave.
At Gav Noble Physiotherapy, Stimpod is used as part of a wider physiotherapy plan. That means we do not simply treat the nerve symptoms in isolation. We assess how your pain affects your movement, strength, balance, walking, sleep and daily activity, then build a treatment plan around your goals.

Stimpod may be considered for nerve-related symptoms such as:
- Diabetic neuropathy
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Sciatica-type symptoms
- Nerve irritation after injury or surgery
- Carpal tunnel-type symptoms
- Persistent nerve pain
- Reduced sensitivity or altered sensation in selected cases
The Stimpod is a non-invasive pulsed radiofrequency nerve treatment system used for the symptomatic relief and management of chronic intractable pain, post-surgical pain, post-traumatic pain and pain management during rehabilitation.
How Does Stimpod Work?
Nerves can become sensitive, irritated or less efficient after injury, diabetes, surgery, compression or long-term pain. This can lead to symptoms such as burning, tingling, numbness, shooting pain, pins and needles, or reduced confidence when walking.
Stimpod delivers stimulation through pads or probes placed on the skin. The aim is to influence the nerve signals travelling between the body and the brain. This is known as neuromodulation.
What Happens During Treatment?
Your physiotherapist will first carry out an assessment to understand your symptoms and check whether Stimpod is suitable for you. If appropriate, stimulation is applied to specific nerve pathways or painful areas.
Treatment is non-invasive and does not involve needles, injections or surgery. Some people feel tingling, pulsing or a mild electrical sensation during treatment.
Nerve symptoms often affect more than sensation. They can change how you walk, balance, move and trust your body. That is why we often combine Stimpod with:
- Strength exercises
- Balance and walking work
- Mobility exercises
- Footwear or orthotic advice
- Pain education and activity planning

Most people describe it as unusual rather than painful. The intensity can be adjusted.
Is it suitable for everyone?
No. We will screen you first to check whether it is appropriate and safe.

No treatment can guarantee this. The aim is to help manage symptoms and improve function.
Do I still need exercises?
Usually, yes. Stimpod may help symptoms, but rehabilitation helps you move better long term.
