Fibromyalgia – What You Need To Know

Currently
we are treating many patients with fibromyalgia syndrome, and I have found that
their knowledge of their condition is very limited. Within this blog I am going
to bring you some knowledge of the condition in the hope of giving you a better
understanding and the best ways to manage the condition.

Fibromyalgia
Syndrome is known for its presentation of widespread pain throughout an individual’s
soft tissue. Fibromyalgia syndrome is considered as a syndrome that
includes many factors and NOT just one condition, these factors may cause
severe disruption and a negative impact on an individual’s daily life.

Fibromyalgia
is one of the most common chronic pain disorders and the disorder is estimated
to affect 3-6% of the world population. The condition is affects woman 90% more
commonly than men and the most common ages affected are between 22-55.

Muscle
pain is one of the most common symptoms of Fibromyalgia, often described by
patients as “aching or burning” regardless of physical activity. Patients that
we are currently seeing at the clinic describe stressful situations,
overloading physical activity and overstretching are some of the factors that
cause an increase in their symptoms.

Currently
the best forms of management for the condition are:

·

·
